Response to Misha'al Al-Kadhi: Will Judas judge Israel?
A response to 5.15
Will Judas judge Israel?
"And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That
ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the
Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye
also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve
tribes of Israel" (Matthew 19:28).
Judas forfeited his position when he betrayed Jesus
in the garden of Gethsemane (Matthew 26:48). Judas
later committed suicide (27:5).
We believe that Jesus gave him opportunity to repent
before the deed by calling Judas "friend". "Friend,
do what you are here to do". Judas was given this
last chance. Notice that Jesus knew what Judas was
contemplating, yet still called him "friend".
Notice the words, "that ye which have followed me".
Judas did follow Jesus for a while, but in the end
he did not follow Jesus. That is why he forfeited
his position.
Mr. Al-Kadhi states, "the twelfth can not be St. Paul,
the self-appointed replacement for Judas". No where
in the scriptures does it say that Paul is the self-
appointed replacement or that Paul will sit on the
twelfth throne. Whoever told this to Mr. Al-Kadhi is
incorrect.
Mr. Al-Kadhi then states, "since Jesus (pbuh) never
met Paul". Jesus met Paul (Saul) on the road to
Damascus (Acts 9:3-7).
According to Acts (1:24-26), Matthias was added to the
eleven apostles.
