A Jewish tribe in Madinah that was hostile towards Muhammad after the Battle of Badr. They were expelled by Muhammad after his migration (hijra) there. They eventually settled in Qadi al-Qura, near the Syrian border. It is said that most of the people of Banu Qaynuqa at Yathrib were hoping the the Qureysh would end Islam after the Muslim's defeat at Badr (al-Ma'idah 5:82). Another tribe, Banu Alnadir, was also expelled. However, the Jewish tribe Banu Qurayza suffered a much worse fate.
