one of the early Muslims who kept a codex of the Qur'an before the Uthmanic codex became standard (used today). His codex contains many variants with the Uthmanic text. ibn Mas'ud was well-versed in the Qur'an was was taught by Muhammad personally to recite the Qur'an.
